To the Memory of John Lee Wesley III

John Lee Wesley III was born in West Palm Beach, Florida on September 19, 1966. Known as "Tab" to family and "JL" to friends, John exemplified what it means to be a caring, respectful and loyal MAN. On May 10, 2012 John passed away to his eternal reward. His presence in our life is a gift that we will always be thankful for. John lived in New Castle, DE from 1972 until 1988 and attended Tabernacle Baptist Church. He graduated from DelCastle High School in 1984 where he excelled in academics and played on the Cougars Baseball team. From there, John enrolled at the University of Delaware where he pursued and earned his B.S. in Economics in 1988. Again, he participated in his first love...baseball. He played on the Blue Hens Baseball team. John furthered his education at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (Kenan-Flagler Business School)and earned his MBA in 1990 at the tender age of 23. Still in need of a challenge, John continued on at UNC and earned a second Master's Degree in Sports Administration in 1993. He went on to work in marketing at the UNC and Florida State University athletic departments. He often stated that his dream job was to be Athletic Director at the University of North Carolina. In December 2000, John embarked on a new career. He joined the global health care and medical research company known as Abbott Laboratories, Inc. and excelled to new heights as a Specialty Representative. "JL" as he was known, provided support to health care providers in the West Coast Florida area. "Not only did JL excel within Abbott but he made many great friends that will always remember him for his generosity, compassion, and friendliness. His friends at Abbott are at a true loss of a great friend, and coworker." -Abbott Laboratories, Inc. John is survived by his mother Lola and father John Wesley Sr.; sisters Jacqueline, Bernice, Dianne, Lue Alice, Mary, and a brother John, Jr. He was preceded in death by a sister Valerie in 1982. John, who resided in Bradenton, Florida also leaves behind countless friends in the Chapel Hill, Tallahassee areas and the greater Tampa region. John Lee Wesley, III was a praying man. He loved the Lord and called upon Him often when the cares of life became overwhelming. "There remaineth a rest for the people of God." We pray that he has indeed entered into that rest in a place called Paradise.
